About Corey

Corey Shefman is a partner at OKT focusing on court and tribunal advocacy, Indigenous governance, and environmental law, and he also provides general counsel services to several First Nations. He is called to the bar in Manitoba, Ontario, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Alberta, and has litigated before courts and tribunals in Manitoba, Ontario, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, British Columbia, and the federal courts. He has taught Aboriginal law at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law. His work has included securing an interim injunction protecting a sacred site in a Treaty 9 First Nation's territory, acting as lead counsel for Indigenous governing bodies at bodies like the Nunavut Impact Review Board and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and negotiating exploration and relationship agreements between First Nations and mining and nuclear sector proponents. Corey holds a BA from McGill University, an MA from Cardiff University, and an LLB from the University of Manitoba.
