About Charis
Charis Liu is a criminal defence lawyer with litigation experience on both the defence and prosecution sides. She first joined Platform Litigation in 2022 as a summer articling student, assisting with murder and drug trafficking cases. Before returning to the firm, Liu served as Crown Counsel with the BC Prosecution Service, appearing in Provincial and Supreme Court on cases involving sexual assault, aggravated assault, firearms possession, impaired driving, theft, and mischief. During law school she volunteered with the Law Students' Legal Advice Program and worked with UBC's Criminal Law Clinic and Innocence Project, investigating wrongful convictions. Liu received her J.D. from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia in 2023, after an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Toronto. She speaks Mandarin fluently.
