Tax LawCatherine is the Office Lead Partner in the firm's Halifax office and leader of its regional Estates and Trusts Service Group, with extensive experience in trust and estate planning and administration, from simple wills and trusts to complex international structures. She works with individuals and large corporate clients on protecting families and meeting objectives tax-effectively, with a particular focus on planning for disabled beneficiaries, and often acts as trustee as part of the firm's executor and trustee services. She is a past president and chair of the Access to Justice and Law Reform Institute of Nova Scotia, past president of the Halifax Estate Planning Council, and a member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners, the Canadian Bar Association, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the International Bar Association. She was named Best Lawyers' Trusts and Estates Law 'Lawyer of the Year' in 2022 and is ranked Band 3 in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide for Private Wealth Law.
