About Eric

Eric Machum has practised law since 2005 and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2011. Before joining Metcalf & Company, he worked as a cadet aboard Atlantic Towing Limited's coastal and harbour tugs and spent four years at Clyde & Co. in Caracas, Venezuela. His practice covers marine, transportation, insurance and corporate-commercial law, and he regularly advises ship owners, freight forwarders, marine service providers, exporters and their insurers on regulatory and contractual matters. Eric holds an LL.M. in Marine Law and a J.D. from Dalhousie University, teaches part-time at the Schulich School of Law, and has led maritime law training courses in Latin America. He was named 2023 Transportation Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers and serves as National Vice-President of the Canadian Maritime Law Association.
