Indigenous LawAmanda Spitzig is an associate whose practice sits at the intersection of environmental law, Indigenous law, and natural resources law. She advises corporations, land developers, insurers, Indigenous communities, and individuals on complying with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations, and she has experience in environmental civil proceedings, regulatory prosecution defence, and appeals of regulatory orders. Before joining Willms & Shier, she led consultations with the Crown on large-scale resource development initiatives across Canada and helped negotiate modern treaties and self-government arrangements with Indigenous communities on the government's behalf. She holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Master's in Environmental Studies from York University, and a BA in Legal Studies and Business from the University of Waterloo. Amanda is called to the bar in Ontario, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories.
