About Jessica

Jessica Proudfoot is a Partner and chairs the firm's Lands and Governance Practice Group. Her work centers on Aboriginal and treaty rights, Aboriginal title, commercial litigation, contaminated sites, land interests, and natural resources, providing strategic, cost-sensitive legal advice and representation to First Nations on Indigenous governance matters. She is an experienced litigator who has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, including most recently in Shot Both Sides, as well as various provincial courts and tribunals, and led work on the Quw'utsun Nation's Aboriginal title claim, where the team succeeded in establishing at trial that Aboriginal title is senior to fee simple. She was called to the bar in Alberta (2012), British Columbia (2021), and Yukon (2023). She lives and practices in Edmonton, Alberta, and enjoys live music, camping, and cross-country skiing.
