Indigenous LawJacquelyn (Jacquie) Stevens is a Law Society of Ontario Certified Specialist in Environmental Law and a trained geologist, a combination that lets her assess both the legal and scientific sides of environmental risk. She practices civil litigation before the courts, regulatory litigation before courts and tribunals, and transactional and permitting work, prosecuting and defending environmental lawsuits and acting for clients in regulatory prosecutions and appeals of orders and approvals. Her clients range from individuals to large corporations across many sectors, and she also advises Indigenous communities and private-sector clients on Indigenous environmental law issues. Jacquie holds a B.Sc. with honours in earth sciences from Dalhousie University, an M.Sc. in geology from St. Francis Xavier University, a Master of Studies in environmental law from Vermont Law School, and an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia. She was called to the bar of Ontario in 2004 and the bar of Alberta in 2015, the same year she became a Law Society of Ontario Certified Specialist in Environmental Law, and she has served as President of the Women's Law Association of Ontario since 2018.
