About Robert
Robert Janes, KC is a founding partner of JFK Law, based in the firm's Victoria office since helping establish the corporation in 2009. He practises civil litigation focused on constitutional, Aboriginal, and commercial matters, and has appeared for appellants and interveners at the Supreme Court of Canada as well as courts across British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, Yukon, and the Federal Court system. His work includes cases on Aboriginal title and rights, the duty to consult and accommodate, and the application of the Indian Act, and he has represented First Nations at the Supreme Court of Canada fourteen times. Robert earned his LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1991 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1992 and the British Columbia Bar in 1998. He has served on the boards of Pearson College and the University of Victoria's Environmental Law Centre.
