About Vanessa

Vanessa Lam practises family law at MacLean Law. Raised in a Cantonese-speaking household, she brings an understanding of Chinese cultural values to her work with Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking clients. She studied European history at the University of British Columbia before earning her LLB (Hons) at the University of Kent in 2021, followed by a Master of Laws from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC. During law school she volunteered with Access Pro Bono's Residential Tenancy Program, assisting tenants facing eviction, and later worked with UBC's immigration law clinic providing free legal advice on immigration and refugee matters. She is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and speaks Cantonese and conversational Mandarin.
