Reeves Richarz LLP is a full service law firm with its head office in Toronto's Distillery District and satellite offices in Hamilton and Cayuga. The firm's name joins two of its senior partners, managing partner Neil Colville-Reeves and partner Shawn Richarz, who were both called to the Ontario bar in 1994. Colville-Reeves holds a BA in History and an MBA from the University of Toronto and a JD from the University of British Columbia, and spent two years in the securities industry's corporate finance side before moving into law. Richarz was born in Vancouver, raised in Ontario, and earned an Honours BA from McMaster University and an LLB from UBC, then articled with an insurance defence firm in Hamilton before shifting the practice toward family law, real estate, and wills and estates in 1996.
The firm describes nearly four decades of work for property and casualty insurers, and its lawyers serve as instructors for the Insurance Institute of Ontario on subjects such as personal injury compensation, environmental insurance law, and subrogation. Alongside that insurance defence practice, Reeves Richarz handles commercial litigation, family law, real estate transactions, and wills and estates for individuals, small and medium sized businesses, and financial institutions across Ontario.
Wheelchair accessibleReeves Richarz keeps its head office on King Street East in Toronto's Distillery District, an area built around the former Gooderham and Worts distillery that's now a National Historic Site known for its brick paved, pedestrian friendly streets and Victorian era industrial buildings. Its Hamilton office sits further along that same King Street East, the Lower City arterial that has run through the heart of Hamilton since the city's founding in the early 19th century.
The Cayuga office is in the county seat of Haldimand County, a village on the Grand River that was incorporated in 1859 and has served as the county's administrative and judicial centre ever since, complete with its own courthouse. It's a fitting base for a firm whose Cayuga lawyers handle litigation, family law, real estate, and wills and estates work for the surrounding county.
