Employment & Labour LawZohaib Ahmed is an Associate in WeirFoulds' Commercial Litigation Practice Group, with a practice covering business litigation, shareholder remedies, professional liability, employment disputes, and real estate and construction disputes, along with international and cross-border matters. Before joining the firm he built a broad litigation practice at another Toronto firm, handling files across civil and commercial litigation. He has appeared before the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Federal Court, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. His work has included negotiating a shareholder buyout under a shotgun clause, defending human rights applications, securing settlements in wrongful dismissal cases, and defending against a Mareva injunction involving roughly $3 million in funds. Zohaib earned his J.D. from Western University in 2021, where he won awards for advocacy in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot and advanced to the international rounds in Washington, D.C. He also served as a Policy Advisor for the Government of Canada at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. He has a particular interest in cryptocurrency and has helped clients recover digital assets misappropriated by fraudsters across multiple jurisdictions. Called to the Ontario bar in 2022, he speaks English, Urdu and Hindi.
