About Amy
Amy Block is a partner in WeirFoulds' Regulatory Practice Group, concentrating on professional self-regulation, administrative and public law, and civil litigation. Before joining the firm, she spent 15 years as Senior Legal Counsel and Appeal & Review Lead for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, where she conducted complex discipline hearings involving allegations of sexual abuse, clinical incompetence and incapacity. She has significant experience as appeal counsel at all levels of court, including the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada, on matters of administrative law and professional regulation. Amy also advises various college committees on policy development and legislative amendments to health professional legislation. Earlier in her career she practised civil litigation at a Toronto boutique firm serving private and public businesses, financial institutions and regulatory bodies. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2002 after earning her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Master's in Environmental Studies from York University, and a B.Sc. with honours in biology from McGill University.
