About Vicki Edgar

Vicki Edgar is a partner at Cohen Highley LLP whose work centres on people recovering from a traumatic injury, helping them rebuild their lives. Vicki's litigation practice leans toward insurance and personal injury claims, and medical malpractice is part of it as well.

Called to the bar in 1990, Vicki has appeared in court at every level, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada included. Vicki has also spent a great deal of time inside the arbitration and mediation process run by the Ontario Insurance Commission.

Every case is prepared as though it's headed for trial. Vicki treats a trial as the last resort, but that readiness signals to the opposing side that the matter is being taken seriously and that the client's interests will be fought for. In 2023 Vicki and the team took a motor vehicle collision claim, McCurdy v. Maille, before a jury, in an in-person trial held after the pandemic had closed the courts.

Away from the office, Vicki breeds horses and has written a number of articles for equestrian publications about sport and liability. Home is a farm full of horses, ponies, dogs and cats, a life that keeps Vicki fit and grounded, and each year there's a hiking trip to New Zealand with family. Giving back matters a lot to Vicki, and in 2024 the Middlesex Law Association recognized that commitment with its Award for Philanthropy.
