About Christian Jannetta

Christian Jannetta is a partner at Cohen Highley, working out of the firm's commercial litigation group with a focus on employment and construction disputes. On the employment side, Christian acts for employers and for employees alike, covering the start and the end of a working relationship, the contracts behind it, wrongful dismissal claims, and questions under Ontario's Human Rights Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Employment advice and disputes

Christian advises both sides of the employment relationship, employers and employees, on hiring, employment contracts, terminations and wrongful dismissal actions. Human Rights Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act matters are part of this work, and Christian regularly handles tribunal files at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Ontario Labour Relations Board.

Construction liens

Construction law is one of the two main areas of Christian's practice. Christian has explained that enforcing a lien takes two steps, preserving it and then perfecting it, and that the Construction Act allows only days, not months, to preserve a lien.
