Born in Gujarat, India, Aesha immigrated to Canada in 2005 along with Aesha's parents and is fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi. Women's rights are a cause Aesha cares about, and that shows in a director's role with the Canada India Bar Council focused on equality for women. Away from work, there's painting and pottery, travel, a good book, and time with friends and family.

Law came after an undergraduate degree in criminology and socio-legal studies at the University of Toronto, where Aesha grew interested in tackling systemic problems in the justice system. A Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor followed, and Aesha was called to the bar in 2021. Before coming to Cohen Highley, Aesha worked as an associate at a Toronto firm.

Aesha acts on both residential and commercial transactions, and also handles land use planning and land development projects for clients. Commercial leases are a regular part of the work, with plenty of experience acting for landlords, and Aesha has written about how the duty of good faith shapes commercial leasing after the BC Court of Appeal's ARC Digital decision.

Wills, trusts and estate administration

Aesha prepares wills, powers of attorney and trusts, and guides estate trustees through each step of administering an estate. The practice includes planning for families who have a member with special needs, and using multiple wills to avoid unnecessary probate tax. Aesha has explained how a Henson trust, a fully discretionary trust, can keep an inheritance from affecting a child's ODSP eligibility.
