Partner at Goldblatt Partners LLP
Vanora Simpson practises criminal defence law, representing individuals accused of crimes or professional misconduct through legal advice, negotiations with police and prosecutors, and trial advocacy. Early involvement in a case has allowed her to help clients avoid charges being laid, while her courtroom preparation and cross-examination skills support strong advocacy at trial. Her work is grounded in a commitment to defending the rights of the disadvantaged against state power, including acting for the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted, later renamed Innocence Canada, at the Goudge Inquiry to help ensure that innocent people are not convicted based on junk science, and challenging unconstitutional laws before the Court of Appeal on behalf of the Criminal Lawyers' Association. She also mentors young women entering the criminal law field.
