The Honourable Frank Iacobucci is senior counsel at Torys and previously served as a Justice of Canada's Supreme Court. He advises governments, Indigenous groups, and businesses on significant legal and policy issues, including matters of reconciliation, Indigenous rights, and the duty to consult. Between 2017 and 2018 he mediated a land claim in Manitoba involving the Waywayseecappo First Nation, and from 2014 to 2018 he represented Ontario in talks with the Matawa Council regarding the Ring of Fire. In 2014 he completed an independent review for Toronto's police service concerning officers' encounters with individuals experiencing mental or emotional distress. He had earlier served as a commissioner with the Ontario Securities Commission, and separately as counsel to the Estey Commission. Over his career he has received numerous honorary degrees and other recognitions from institutions across Canada and abroad.
