About Nicholas Kluge

When a company faces a product liability claim or a class action, Nicholas Kluge is often the lawyer defending it. The practice also takes in insolvency work and litigation in financial services and capital markets, acting for Canadian and multinational corporations in consumer, corporate and commercial disputes and in restructurings that cross borders. Kluge is a partner in Gowling WLG's Toronto office and once led the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Group.

Called to the Ontario bar in 2001, Kluge handles both trials and appeals. That courtroom work has reached every level of provincial court in Canada, the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. Many files involve several parties and more than one jurisdiction, and the partner collaborates with clients and co-counsel to resolve matters in each Canadian province, in the US and overseas. Kluge works closely with lawyers and clients in Europe and the United States and is regularly part of litigation that crosses national lines.

Outside the courtroom, Kluge serves as editor-in-chief of the Commercial Litigation Bulletin, a newsletter that tracks and analyzes notable commercial litigation developments in Canada and around the world. Kluge also co-wrote the Canada chapter of the International Comparative Legal Guide to Product Liability. Before law school at Osgoode Hall, Kluge earned an honours BA in history at Concordia University.
