About Teresa

Teresa Foley is counsel at Carbert Waite LLP practising solely in health law, with a focus on defending complex medical malpractice claims. She obtained her LLB with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 1997 and articled at the Court of Queen's Bench in Regina before moving to Calgary in 2000, where she worked in private practice and in-house for the Alberta Securities Commission, the Calgary Health Region, the Calgary Police Service and Alberta Health Services. She joined Carbert Waite as a senior associate in 2012, practised until 2018, and rejoined as counsel in 2020. She has advised on adverse event investigations, human rights complaints, fatality inquiries, and regulatory complaints against health professionals, and served on the executive of the Canadian Bar Association Alberta Branch Health Law Section.
