About Blair
Blair Carbert, KC, is a founding partner of Carbert Waite LLP, established in 1999, who began his legal career with MacKimmie Matthews in 1986. Appointed King's Counsel in 2022, his diverse practice has taken him across Canada advising individuals, corporations, estates, public institutions and governments. He has defended healthcare institutions and professionals since the early 1990s in malpractice and other claims, and has been counsel in numerous public fatality inquiries, maintaining an active practice in commercial, estate and condominium litigation as well as insurance coverage matters. He has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. He earned a BA with Distinction from the University of Toronto in 1983 and his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1986, and was admitted to the Alberta bar in 1987. He is a former infantry officer with the 48th Highlanders of Canada and served as volunteer President of Speed Skating Canada from 2019 to 2024.
