About Don

Don Young, KC is a Calgary-based litigator with over 30 years of experience at all levels of court in Alberta and at the Supreme Court of Canada. He was appointed King's Counsel and has appeared in both civil and criminal courts as well as in numerous regulatory hearings. As former Chief Litigation Counsel at the Alberta Securities Commission, he has extensive experience in securities enforcement matters and litigated some of the longest securities hearings in Alberta's history. Prior to that role, he represented employers, including two multinational oil and gas companies, and employees in HR, dismissal, and severance matters. Don has appeared numerous times before the Alberta Court of Appeal in civil and regulatory cases and twice before the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also represented Alberta liability, disability, and commercial insurers, and has almost 20 years of experience teaching trial advocacy to lawyers across Canada and the US.
