About Tam
Tam Boyar co-founded MacKay Boyar and acts for clients on civil and commercial disputes, among them contract disagreements, shareholder oppression claims, employment law issues, and fiduciary duty allegations, in addition to select criminal matters and appearances before the BC Securities Commission and various professional discipline bodies. Benchmark Litigation has named him a Litigation Star for his work in white-collar crime, securities, and commercial litigation. Tam was appointed Policy Counsel for the Commission of Inquiry into Money Laundering in British Columbia in January 2020, and his constitutional litigation work at the trial and appellate level includes the case of Cambie Surgeries Corporation v. Attorney General of British Columbia. Tam earned his law degrees at McGill University, finishing at the top of his class in 2007 and collecting several academic and mooting honours; he then clerked for the Supreme Court of Canada's Justice Morris Fish before moving to a litigation boutique. He holds a BA from Dartmouth College (2001) and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2008.
