About Gabriel

Gabriel Martz is an associate at MacKay Boyar, developing a practice representing clients in criminal, civil, and public law litigation. Before joining the firm, he clerked for Justices Newbury, DeWitt-Van Oosten, and Warren at the Court of Appeal for British Columbia. Gabriel obtained his law degree from the University of Victoria in 2024, where he received the John McAlpine Prize in Civil Liberties and Human Rights, the Anne Cadby Memorial Scholarship, a Dickson medal for oral advocacy, and the McCarthy Tetrault Scholarship for his performance in the Gale Moot. During law school he worked with a national firm on complex commercial litigation and with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada on criminal matters. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University (2019) and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2025.
