About Stewart

Stewart Hayne is a partner in Cox & Palmer's Halifax office with over 20 years of experience in commercial litigation, focusing on contractual, shareholder, trademark, copyright, and patent disputes, as well as medical defence litigation and professional regulation. His intellectual property practice covers trademark application and opposition, infringement opinions and litigation, and domain name disputes. Stewart holds a BSc in physics from St. Francis Xavier University and an MSc in physics from the University of Guelph, and obtained his law degree from Dalhousie University in 2003 after working in radiology imaging software. He practised IP litigation in Toronto and served as in-house IP counsel at Ballard Power Systems in Vancouver before joining Cox & Palmer in 2010. He also acts as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association and its member physicians, and is a registered Canadian patent and trademark agent.
