About Sheila

Sheila Mecking is a partner in Stewart McKelvey's Fredericton office. Her bilingual practice covers governance and regulatory law, professional discipline, labour and employment, and workplace investigations, and she has represented professional associations and regulatory bodies on compliance with their governing legislation. She has been involved in over 200 disciplinary cases for New Brunswick professional associations and has advised decision makers on due process and procedural fairness. As part of the firm's Insight Investigations & Training team, Mecking conducts independent, trauma-informed workplace investigations and delivers training for HR professionals and leaders across Canada. She has appeared before all levels of court in New Brunswick and before a variety of administrative tribunals, and has represented clients in termination grievances, human rights complaints and official languages complaints. Mecking earned her Juris Doctor from Université de Moncton in 2013 and completed the Osgoode Advanced Certificate in Workplace Investigations in 2022. She was called to the New Brunswick bar in 2013.
