About Shaun
Shaun Leochko is a senior criminal defence lawyer based in Calgary. Shaun was called to the bar in Alberta in 2016, having earned a law degree from the University of Calgary the year before. Shaun has run a private practice for six years, handling matters such as assault and domestic violence, murder and manslaughter, sexual assault, theft and fraud, drug possession and trafficking, bail litigation, and firearms offences. Shaun sits on Legal Aid Alberta's Major Cases Panel, a group of criminal defence lawyers chosen to handle serious and complex matters, and continues advanced training in serious criminal cases as part of that role. Shaun also serves as Vice President of the Calgary Defence Lawyers Association, working on initiatives to address systemic issues in Alberta's criminal courts, and remains involved with Student Legal Assistance, the pro bono clinic joined during law school.
