About Ian

Ian Carruthers founded Carruthers Law in August 2021 after working as an associate at firms in Calgary and Edmonton. Ian's practice focuses on civil litigation, legal malpractice claims, and estate litigation, including will challenges, dependant claims, and guardianship and trusteeship disputes. Ian has appeared before the Court of Appeal of Alberta, the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta, and the Provincial Court of Alberta. Before law, Ian pursued a career in music, earning a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Calgary, and worked as a viola performer and private music teacher for over a decade. Ian completed a Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta in 2015 and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2016. Ian is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Christian Legal Fellowship.
