About Shanti

Shanti Barclay is a partner at Zarek Taylor Grossman Hanrahan LLP, where she has built an insurance defence practice focused on property and product liability, including subrogation. Her work spans construction, Tarion, and builder's risk matters involving fires, floods, oil spills, and train derailments, and she is an appraiser under section 128 of the Insurance Act. Shanti frequently represents long-term care facilities and health care professionals such as nurses, optometrists, and dentists, and she defends professional negligence claims against accountants and engineers. Since her call to the bar she has also worked on class actions covering pollution, privacy breaches, explosions, and personal injury. She co-chairs the firm's Property, Subrogation, Health Law, Class Action, and Product Liability groups and has been recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada for insurance law since 2022. Shanti holds a BA in Political Science from York University and completed law school at Osgoode, being called to the bar in 1998.
