Criminal DefenceFor more than two decades, John Dent has practised administrative, civil, and criminal law in Toronto. His clients have included CEOs, private companies, and condominium boards, along with tribunals and colleges, and he has represented doctors, nurses, lawyers, paralegals, social workers, and other regulated professionals. His work today centers on professional discipline: defending professionals under investigation by their regulators, representing them at discipline hearings, prosecuting misconduct cases, and advising adjudicators at professional discipline and good character hearings. Before starting his own firm, he was part of the litigation group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP. He clerked for the judges of the Ontario Court of Appeal before his call to the bar in 2002, and he holds a B.A. from the University of Waterloo, an M.A. from York University, and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. He is a member of the Advocates Society and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
