About Russell
The Honourable Russell Brown is an arbitrator, mediator, and associate counsel to Hunter Litigation Chambers. He began his career as litigation counsel in British Columbia and Alberta before serving as a law professor and Associate Dean at the University of Alberta, and later spent over ten years on Canada's federal judiciary, including eight years on the Supreme Court of Canada. He has written on commercial and private law, constitutional law, and other subjects, and is the author of a leading treatise on tort claims for economic loss. He now advises the firm's lawyers and clients on matters headed to the Supreme Court of Canada and conducts domestic and international arbitrations and mediations. He holds degrees from the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria, and the University of Toronto, including a master's and doctorate from Toronto.
