About Catherine
Catherine Dauvergne, K.C. joined Hunter Litigation Chambers after twenty-five years in the Canadian and Australian legal academies, having served as Dean of Law at the University of British Columbia and Vice-President, Academic and Provost of Simon Fraser University. She is an internationally recognized author in refugee and immigration law, having authored, edited, or co-authored eight books and more than 75 law review articles, and continues to teach constitutional, transnational, and immigration and refugee law at UBC. She became a practising member of the Law Society of British Columbia in 2008 and regularly represents clients in immigration and refugee matters, and she provides counsel to the firm's lawyers and clients on public law matters. She holds a BA and MA from Carleton University, an LLB from UBC, and a PhD in law from the Australian National University, clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada in 1995, and was appointed King's Counsel in 2019 and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2021.
