Ron Schwass

About Ron

Ron is a partner and head of the firm's Asset Management and Investment Funds Group, practising in securities, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions, primarily for asset management and venture capital clients. He is active across fund formation, working with traditional and alternative asset strategies on their establishment and financing, the registration of key service providers, and the integration of acquired organizations' operations. He acts for issuers and dealers in offerings involving asset management and fintech companies, and advises domestic and international sponsors of investment products on Canadian securities registration matters. Before entering private practice, Ron worked as a solicitor in the Corporate Finance Branch of the Ontario Securities Commission from 1987 to 1990, with particular responsibility for mutual fund regulation. He has authored numerous articles on securities regulation and is listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada for Mutual Funds Law and Private Funds Law, as well as The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Investment Funds & Asset Management. From 2017 to 2019 he served on the Securities Advisory Committee to the Ontario Securities Commission.
