About Robert

Robert (Rob) is an advocate whose practice focuses on environmental, energy, corporate commercial litigation, and administrative law, including development projects from early planning through construction disputes and decommissioning. He has appeared before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, private arbitration tribunals, and the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board on matters including land use planning, expropriations, and utility rate hearings. His practice also covers First Nations consultation and litigation involving Indigenous rights, as well as property and environmental disputes. Robert earned his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1980, a BA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University in 1979 as a Rhodes Scholar, and an AB magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1977. He was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1981 and holds the King's Counsel designation, awarded in 1998. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been recognized by Best Lawyers and Lexpert for energy regulatory, environmental, and natural resources law.
