About Riley
Riley Brennan's practice areas include Aboriginal and treaty rights, First Nation constitutions, laws and policy, governance support, and natural resources, among others, and she is particularly motivated by the ways laws and systems of power shape the lives of her clients. She articled at Woodward & Company in 2023 and returned as a lawyer in 2024; during law school she was an executive member of the Environmental Law Club, volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, completed a clinical term at the UVic Law Centre representing an Indigenous client in a family law hearing, did a co-op term with the BC Ministry of Attorney General's Justice Services Branch, and co-developed the Rivers Clinic for Empowered Youth. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern British Columbia (2019), with majors in political science and minors in environmental studies and business, and a JD from the University of Victoria's Faculty of Law (2023). Having grown up on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T'enneh in Prince George, BC, she describes herself as a settler bringing a community-centered approach to her work, and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia (2024) and the Canadian Bar Association.
