About Richard
Richard Stern has practiced as criminal defence counsel since being called to the Ontario bar in 1980, after articling for Edward L. Greenspan at Greenspan, Gold & Moldaver. He has appeared at all levels of court on matters ranging from homicides and drug trafficking to sexual offences, drinking and driving charges, and domestic disputes, and has argued appeals before the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. He earned his B.A. from the University of Toronto in 1975 and his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1978, and is a Certified Specialist in criminal law. Richard has taught extensively through Osgoode Hall's Professional Development program, Legal Aid Ontario, the Advocates' Society, and the Law Society, and continues to work with Legal Aid Ontario on committees related to defending serious criminal proceedings.
