Criminal DefenceCatherine E. Currie has practiced criminal law since she was called to the bar of Ontario in 1992. She holds a B.A. from Carleton University, and after a first career managing technical communications for several large corporations, earned an LL.B. and later an LL.M. with a specialty in Criminal Law, both from Osgoode Hall Law School. Her practice is devoted primarily to trial-level criminal defence across the Greater Toronto Area, with particular experience representing clients with mental health issues and a high success rate securing stays or withdrawals through mental health diversion programs. She regularly appears before the Ontario Review Board and the Superior Court of Justice, previously taught in the Bar Admission Course, served ten years on the Legal Aid Ontario Area Committee, and served on the executive of the Ontario Bar Association.
