About Rebecca

Rebecca Steele focuses on immigration and refugee matters, including refugee claims, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments, and permanent residence applications through family sponsorship or on Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds. She also handles mandamus applications and advises on work and study permits and citizenship, representing both individual clients and employers. Before joining the firm, she worked with Yale Law School's Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic and served as a staff attorney at Legal Aid DC, and she coordinated research for the Immigration Policy Tracking Project. Steele earned her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was an editor of the Yale Law Journal, and holds a combined honours B.A. from Dalhousie University and the University of King's College. She is called to the Bar of Ontario, is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, and belongs to the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers.
