About Ronald
Ronald Shacter has practiced immigration and refugee law since 1983 and is licensed with both the Law Society of Ontario and the Barreau du Quebec. He represents clients seeking temporary and permanent residence in Canada, with a focus on economic immigration, family reunification, citizenship, and refugee matters, and appears regularly before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court in English and French. From 1990 to 1997 he worked as staff immigration lawyer at Parkdale Community Legal Services, supervising law students. Ronald represented the Canadian Council for Refugees as an intervener before the Supreme Court of Canada in Canada (Attorney General) v. Ward and in Chan v. Canada, decisions that helped shape Canadian refugee law, and he wrote articles analyzing both cases. He holds a Bachelor of Laws in civil law from the University of Sherbrooke, a Master of Social Work from Fordham University, and a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University.
