About Sara

Sara Sanelli is the founder of Sanelli Law and has more than ten years of experience in immigration and refugee law. She represents clients in refugee claims and appeals before the Immigration and Refugee Board, judicial reviews before the Federal Court, and complex matters including deferrals, stay motions, humanitarian and compassionate applications, and pre-removal risk assessments. She also prepares sponsorship applications for spouses, common-law partners, same-sex and queer partners, and other family members, and has dedicated considerable effort to supporting the LGBTQ+ community with refugee claims, permanent residency, and sponsorships. Before her call to the bar, Sanelli completed a clerkship at the Ontario Court of Justice and worked with Innocence Canada on policy initiatives for the wrongfully convicted. She holds a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School and a B.A. (Honours) from York University, and is a member of the Refugee Lawyers Association, the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers, the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Canadian Bar Association.
