About Grace

Grace Acan is an associate who works on a broad scope of immigration and refugee matters, including refugee claims, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments, family sponsorship and Humanitarian & Compassionate applications, work and study permit applications, and citizenship matters. Her interest in this area began in law school when she studied under Maureen Silcoff, and she went on to complete her Integrated Practice Placement and articling at Silcoff Shacter, staying on as a Licensing Candidate before her call to the Bar of Ontario. As an immigrant herself, she brings a trauma-informed lens to her work with vulnerable communities. Grace served as President of the Student Chapter of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, where she also researched human rights issues for the UNHCR Legal Clinic. She holds a Juris Doctor from Lincoln Alexander School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development from Acadia University.
