Rana Hazarat joined Black Burke Mayor following work in the public sector and with several non-profit organizations. She earned her JD from the Peter A. Allard School of Law and served as Program Coordinator for Pro Bono Students Canada, having studied Political Science and Economics at the University of British Columbia and competed on the UBC Varsity Track & Field Team. Rana recently obtained her LLM at Columbia University in New York, receiving multiple awards for her work in human rights, and has led numerous initiatives on human rights issues in Afghanistan, recognized internationally for her advocacy, particularly relating to women and ethnic and religious minorities. Rana uses the pronouns she/her.
