About Peter

Peter A. Hertz is a partner in the firm's Civil Litigation Group in Waterloo, serving commercial and municipal clients. His practice focuses on construction law, municipal issues, and debtor-creditor matters. He is a member of the Ontario Expropriation Association and has represented clients before the Ontario Municipal Board in market value disputes and business loss claims, and he has handled by-law prosecutions and appeals for several municipalities after previously conducting provincial offence prosecutions for the Ministry of the Attorney General. Originally from Kenora, Ontario, Peter earned an Honours BA from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2005 and a Bachelor of Laws, with distinction, from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2008, where he achieved first class standing and received the David Mochan Memorial Award in Criminal Law and the Maritime Law Book Award in Professional Responsibility. Outside work, he coaches football and belongs to the Football Canada Coaches Association.
