About Sukhman Sangha

Legal, regulatory and strategic questions are the core of Sukhman Sangha's work as an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office, where the Ontario lawyer (called in 2025) belongs to the firm's Government Affairs Group. Sangha's focus areas are energy, nuclear, and public policy and government affairs, and clients reach Sangha in English or Punjabi.

Before joining Gowling WLG, Sangha worked in Ontario government. As an advisor at the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Sangha worked on small business issues and cutting red tape, helping move the province's strategy for attracting investment forward. Sangha was also Senior Advisor to the Honourable Prabmeet Sarkaria, now Ontario's Minister of Transportation, and during the Treasury Board period gave advice on fiscal planning, public procurement and the expansion of energy and infrastructure.

Articling at Gowling WLG added a corporate side. The student-at-law saw work in corporate, M&A and securities law, helped on transactions, and advised on commercial and dispute resolution files. While still articling, Sangha co-wrote a 2024 Globe and Mail opinion piece with three of the firm's partners arguing that lifting restrictive ownership caps on municipal utilities would bring in the private investment needed to modernize the grid and meet net-zero goals.

Outside the office, Sangha is a Vice President of the Ontario PC Party and a member of its Board of Directors. Sports fill a lot of free time, both playing and watching. A Raptors fan for years, Sangha is now hoping the Blue Jays can win a World Series.
