About Hayley Crawhall

Hayley Crawhall is an Ottawa associate with Gowling WLG who focuses on construction and infrastructure disputes. Owners and developers turn to Hayley, and so do contractors, consultants and other parties to a project, for help at each stage of a dispute. Some files settle through negotiation, others go to mediation or arbitration, and some end up in court; in every case Hayley's aim is advice that's practical, commercially minded and shaped around what the client actually wants.

Hayley didn't start out in law. Earlier jobs included procurement work at an international aerospace company, centred on managing risk in contracts, and property management on both the residential and commercial sides. Hayley was called to the Ontario bar in 2022, and in 2023 was a bilingual litigation associate at Soloway Wright LLP, handling residential real estate disputes and Landlord and Tenant Board matters. Today Hayley is part of Gowling WLG's Disputes Group.

Construction litigation is the core of the practice, though Hayley also has a background in complex commercial disputes, and that wider experience helps in spotting the strategic questions that so often overlap with a construction claim. Hayley has appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Divisional Court and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Clients can work with Hayley in English or French.
