About Mitchell
Mitch Kitagawa represents domestic and international insurers on defence and subrogation claims and provides coverage opinions, with a reputation for handling challenging, high-value bodily injury, property, and construction claims. He has appeared before all levels of civil court in Ontario and is a frequent speaker on insurance defence issues, having spoken at events for the Carleton County Law Association, Canadian Defence Lawyers, The Advocates Society, and the Kingston & the 1000 Islands Legal Conference, and has taught law clerks and paralegals at Algonquin College. He has volunteered with Pro Bono Ontario, chaired the County of Carleton Law Association's Continuing Professional Development committee, and served on its Diversity Committee. Mitch helped launch the annual Firms Filling Fridges campaign, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Ottawa Food Bank, and received the Regional Senior Justice Award in 2004 and the Gordon F. Henderson Award in 2018. In 2023 he was elected the Law Society of Ontario's Regional Bencher for Ottawa East. He earned his LL.B. from the University of Ottawa Law School.
