About Michelle
Michelle Yau is an immigration lawyer with almost 15 years of experience at YLaw, practising as a sole practitioner affiliated with the firm. She was called to the bar in Ontario in 2009 after graduating from the University of Toronto's law school, and was called to the bar of British Columbia later the same year. She has represented clients across a wide range of backgrounds and case types, including family sponsorships, work permits, and refugee claims, and has appeared at the Federal Court of Canada and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. She has volunteered on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture and with Amnesty International. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, and speaks English, Cantonese, and conversational Mandarin.
