Employment & Labour LawMichelle Westgeest joined Chivers Carpenter in 2010 and has represented unions, their members, and individual employees in labour, employment and human rights matters, appearing before numerous boards, tribunals and all levels of court in Alberta. She presents at conferences on topics including workplace privacy, family status discrimination, drug and alcohol testing, and the duty of fair representation. Prior to Chivers Carpenter, Michelle worked as a researcher for the Alberta Federation of Labour and Victory Square Law Office, a union-side labour law firm in Vancouver. Since 2017 she has focused on legal research and writing, preparing opinions and briefs submitted to arbitration boards, the Labour Relations Board, and the Alberta Court of King's Bench and Court of Appeal.
