As Counsel in Cox & Palmer's Halifax office, the Honourable Michel P. Samson advises on energy, fisheries, Indigenous affairs and trade matters affecting clients doing business in Atlantic Canada. He is a registered lobbyist with the Province of Nova Scotia and the Government of Canada and provides strategic advice on government relations and community consultation, including work on projects involving multiple stakeholders and environmental considerations at all levels of government. A bilingual graduate of Dalhousie Law School, Michel began his law practice in Cape Breton before serving 19 years as a Member of the Nova Scotia Legislature, where his cabinet roles included acting Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Deputy Premier, Minister of Energy, Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism, and Minister of Environment. He is past chair of the Board of Directors for Marine Renewables Canada and currently chairs the Board of Governors at Université Sainte-Anne.
