About Brody

Brody Appotive is a senior associate who works as a corporate lawyer, focusing on advising asset managers and pension funds in Canada. He helps them structure investments and related activities around the world so they remain compliant with applicable pension legislation, including each fund's own governing rules. He regularly acts as pension investment counsel on domestic and international acquisitions in private equity, infrastructure and real estate, along with co-investments, platform investments and fund investments, for clients such as Oxford Properties, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, OMERS Infrastructure, OMERS and CPP Investments. His practice also places emphasis on private equity and M&A. He has experience in both public and private merger transactions and has acted for a number of Canada's largest private equity firms, along with pension plans and asset managers, on activities such as domestic and cross-border acquisitions, divestitures, auction deals, joint ventures and minority investments. Brody has also volunteered with the Law in Action Within Schools program, which uses legal education to help high school students succeed and become engaged, active citizens.
