About Michael
Michael Valo's practice focuses on construction and infrastructure disputes, including international arbitration and complex project litigation involving pipelines, power facilities, mining operations, transit systems, and healthcare developments. He regularly acts as counsel in arbitrations under ICC, UNCITRAL, and ad hoc rules, and has experience across delivery models from design-build and EPC to P3 agreements. Michael is a Founding Member and Ontario Regional Director of the Society of Construction Law North America and a Member-at-Large of the CBA's Construction and Infrastructure Executive. He teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Construction Law at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and authored Construction Delay and Disruption Claims in Canada, the country's first dedicated legal text on the topic. He is called to the bar in Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, and holds a JD from the University of Toronto and a BA with great distinction from McGill University.
